DVD drive shows conflict in Device Manager in Windows 7, yellow exclamation mark on the device (pxhlpa64.sys)

CAUTION: MODIFYING WINDOWS REGISTRY MAY CAUSE ISSUES IN WINDOWS, PLEASE USE CAUTION AND BACKUP THE REGISTRY KEYS PRIOR TO MODIFYING THEM.

To resolve this, do the following:

  1. Open regedit
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} registry key.
  3. Right-click UpperFilters in the right pane, and then click Delete. Click Yes to confirm the deletion of the UpperFilters registry entry.
  4. Right-click LowerFilters in the right pane, and then click Delete. Click Yes to confirm the deletion of the LowerFilters registry entry.
  5. Restart the computer.
