I have a red icon in my task bar that is telling me that 'Your computer is infected'
First you must download HijackThis.exe from http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis
Close all open programs then run the program
Click on 'Do a system scan only' select any suspicious looking entries and click 'Fix checked'. Be careful not to remove system dependant and other required entries.
This will remove the icon from the task bar pemenantly.
