I can not see my desktop icons or launch task manager

Launch Windows XP > when the desktop appears press 'start key' + 'U' this will launch the utility manager and Microsoft Narator

In the Microsoft Narator windows click on 'Microsoft Web Site' to launch Internet Explorer > Click on File > Open > Browse to C:\Windows\regedit.exe and open it > delete the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\explorer.exe

To enable the task manager brose to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System and set "DisableTaskMgr" to '0'.
